The summer reading program!

The Summer Reading Program at my library started yesterday, and i had so much fun! If you don't know what the reading program is, I'll give you a brief explanation:

We meet up every Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. for 6 weeks for a program, at the programs we usually do crafts or play a game or something. It's different every time which makes it more fun! This week we made little things that are like Christmas wreaths, but we decorated them to look like monsters, to match the theme, which is own the night. Mine's very weird looking, but i had fun making it XD

We also have a reading goal, and after we read a certain amount of books, we get a prize! (Prizes for something i would be doing anyway? heck yes!) And at the last program, we have a drawing for a grand prize. The Friday before the last program, we have a lock-in, where we spend the night in the library! That may sound weird, but lock-ins are so fun, I promise!!!

The SRP last year kinda changed my life haha :) so it's special to me.

Also, minor update, i now own every Harry Potter book, the hardcovers! :D

Book Haul!!! (I actually BOUGHT books!)

So I got some really good deals at a local used bookstore :) Here's what I got today!

I hardly ever buy books, but these were so cheap I couldn't resist! ^_^

The Top Ten books i feel like everyone but me has read

1: Harry Potter series. Don't kill me, please! I've read the first, and i think the seconnd, and i enjoyed them, just haven't had time to read the rest. I WILL though.

2: The Help. Yeah, haven't seen the movie either -_-

3: Pride & Prejudice. Again, haven't seen a movie version either, i want to read this one soon though!

4: Pretty Little Liars series. Only read the 1st, but i really liked it and want to read the others soon.

5: Nancy Drew. Being a mystery lover my whole life, I'm kinda surprised i never read these when i was younger

6: The Clique. Seemes like EVERY teenage girl has read these... I read the first Alphas book, (written by the same author) and didn't like it that much though.

7: Twilight series. I've read the first book, And I've seen the Breaking Dawn pt. 1 movie, but that's all. I don't hate it, but i don't think it's "obsess worthy" Like some people think.

8: Vampire Academy series. Yet AGAIN, only read the first book, and i did enjoy it, the library just never has the second book.

9: Looking for Alaska. This is said to be one of John Green's best books, and i really want to read it!

10: Divergent. I read half of this book and absolutely fell in love, but i got it from the library and had to return it before i could finish :(


As you can tell, i have a problem with commiting to series' lol... There honestly aren't many series' I've actually finished.

The Fault In Our Stars - by the amazing John Green.

16 year-old Hazel was diagnosed wth cancer at the age of 12, she's put on all sorts of medications, and has to carry around an oxygen tank eveywhere because her "lungs suck at being lungs". The drugs help keep her tumors at bay, but she realizes she's never going to get completely better. Hazel would spend all day watching "America's Next Top Model", or reading her favorite book, "An Imperial Affliction", all day, every day if she could, but her mom forces her to attend a support group for cancer kids. One group meeting, she meets this guy, Augustus Waters, who was forced to come by his friend Issac, and is currently in remission from osteosarcoma. Augustus takes an immediate interest to Hazel, and changes her life, completely. (I don't want to give away to much more of the plot, because I want you to enjoy it to the max!)


This is a seriously amazing book, it's not like any other "cancer book" out there. The book is actually hilarious, and it plays with your emotions. The only time I wasn't laughing, I was crying. The ending was so sad, it didn't happen the way I expected it to, but I loved it. I will read probably read this book a bunch more times, and never get tired of it. In my opinion, this is John Green's best book yet. I highly reccomend this book. I promise, you won't regret reading it.


Hazel was one of the most hilarious narrators I've ever read in a book, just the things she says make me giggle. Augustus was an amazingly deep character, and I instantly fell in love with him. All the characters were fantasticly personalified, and developed.

The only "con" I've seen people mention in a review, is that the way Hazel and Augustus talk is not at all how normal teenagers talk. But I think that's the POINT. They're NOT normal teenagers at all!

There's definitely a reason you see very few, if any, bad reviews on this book: It's wonderful.

My summer reading plans.

Hey all! I don't have TOO much to do this summer. But one of the things i plan to do is to read some books i haven't had the time to read, but i really want to, here's some of them;

The Harry Potter Series
I remember reading the first, and maybe the second, a really long time ago, but I never finished the series, and i haven't seen the movies. Don't kill me! I really want to read them all this summer. I've heard that they get really good after the fourth.

Pretty Little Liars Series
I've read the first book twice now, and i really am interested in the plot, i want to read the 2nd book this month sometime, and i hope to finish th series within the next couple months.

Warriors Series
These are more at the bottom of my list, don't get me wrong. they're great books, there's just a bunch of other books i've wanted to read that i've been putting off for a long time. I want to try to read these soon though.

Pretty Little Liars

High school juniors Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hannah are 4 pretty girls with some ugly secrets. Hannah had low self-esteem because her own father called her overweight, but after making herself eat greasy, fatty food, then throw up, she's one of the prettiest, most popular girls in school now. She stopped for a while, but after some stressful things happen, all she wants to do is eat. Is she going to fall back into her bad habbits? Aria has always been the unique one but very unsure of herself. She contantly tries out different personality types, to see which one is most pleasing to other people, and make her popular, so she won't be just the weird girl with the pig-puppet. But when she meets an older man in a bar, was pretending to be someone she's not the best idea after all? Spencer is always surpassed by her older sister Mellissa, from school, to boyfriends. Spencer is always a little envious. And when Mellissa brings home her new super cute, British boyfriend, will Spencer be able to push aside her jealousy and resist temptations? And Emily, her life is going pretty well, she's doing good in school, and one of the stars of the swim team. But things shake up a little when there's a new girl, Maya, moving in across from her. Emily is very intrigued by Maya, and soon learns some secrets about her, and maybe herself. But are Emily's feelings for Maya a little more than friendly?


What do all these girls have in common? They were all best friends in 7th grade, along with their "pack leader", Alison. But the summer 7th grade ends, Ali goes missing, and nobody knows what happened to her. All the girls are really confused and creeped out by this, and since it happened, their friendship broke off. But there's something even scarier happening now, the girls are getting messages from someone who obviously knows secrets about them, the mysterious person only signs their name with an "A". Is it Alison? No. She's been missing for 3 years. She has to be dead by now, and ghosts can't send texts and emails, right?


I liked this book; the plot is really interesting and suspenseful! I liked how the book is told in switching view-points between Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily. It made it easy to stay interested when there's 4 kinda seperate stories, and I like how they all tie to each other. It did get a little confusing at first, but other than that it's a really light read, no big complicated words, it's written pretty simply.

This is the second time I've read this book, but i haven't read any of the others yet :P I'm going to try to finish it oever the summer, maybe? Well we'll see!

So the question is..

Q: have you ever had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then "broke up" with later on in either the series or the stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her

Well i think it would be Jeremiah from The Summer I Turned Pretty. I immediately loved him in the first book, amd loved him more in the second, but in the third book he did something to the main character, Belly, that made me hate him. ( i don't want to spoil anything, but if you read the third book, you probably know what i'm talking about)
