I'm writing a story!

Here's my story so far:

I wake up at 6:00 a.m. It's the first day of school. My first day as a highschooler. I get to the bathroom, throw on my uniform, khacki shorts, no more than 4 inches above the knee, and a green polo shirt with a white undershirt underneath. No other colored undershirts are accptable.

I spend exactly 38 seconds fixing my hair. Who cares how I look? I'm not exactly the most good-looking 14 year-old guy in the world. I've never had a girlfriend. Not even one of those play relationships it seems mandatory to have at least once, sometime between kindergarten and 3rd grade. Nope, didn't happen to me. I'm too average. I am, and will always be, average Micah L. Bannister. Micah, not "Mike" or anything like that. It slightly irritates me when people call me Mike. Mike is such a boring, plain name. At least Micah makes me a little different.

I go down the stairs, to the kitchen, for breakfast. Mom made her signature first-day-of-school-breakfast. The smell of pancakes, bacon, and eggs fills the entire house, I smelled it as I was coming down the stairs. It's a fantastic smell, my mom is an amazing cook. My little brother, Lucas, and my little sister, Delilah are already sitting at the table. Lucas is devouring everything he can get his hands on at record speed. "Luke, dude, chill. Save a little for me!" I say. "I eat when I'm nervous," he says with a barely detectable shake in his voice. "There's nothing to be nervous about, Luke," Delilah explains, "Middle school ain't that bad." Today, Luke is starting 6th grade, his first day in junior high. Delilah is starting 8th grade. "What if I get lost and I'm late to class? Or nobody wants to sit with me at lunch? Or a zombie apocalypse starts and I don't know where the emergency exits are?" Luke says frantically. "Then come find me, I don't mind helping you a little bit," Delilah says to him. "How sweet of you, Lila!" My mom says praisingly. "How sweet of you, Lila!" I say with a mocking voice. "Shut up, Micah. I'm just doing what my older sibling never did for me on my first day of middle school. Or even elementery school." She's right. I'm a selfish jerkwad. I didn't want to be associated with my goodie-two-shoes little sister. I still don't want to be. "I was only doing a favor for you, Li. I didn't want people to know you knew a dork like me." I say to her. "Bull," she counters, "It's totally the other way around." I let out an exagerated sigh. "Whatever you want to think, Lila. I know how you women love to be right," I say. I hear my mom chuckle from across the kitchen. Then I hear the bus. The first annoying "honk honk" of the school year.

"Uggghhh, I don't feel good," Luke says with a moaning voice as we're about to go out the door. "It'll be okay," both mom and Delilah say at the same time. Delilah's a lot like mom. Especially the way she tries to boss us around. On the bright side, when mom works late, Delilah has much better cooking skills than dad. Or even Pizza Hut. And I love Pizza Hut. "C'mon Luke," I say, "everything will be fine. Today's my first day of high school and I'm not freaking out." This is partly true. I'm a going insane on the inside. I feel silly, but I have the same worries as Luke. I mean seriously, I really don't want a zombie to eat my brains today.

I made it to school in one piece. My silent wish for the bus driver to lose control and kill us all in a crash wasn't granted. There's a couple guys on stakeboards riding up to the door, there's a group of blonde girls giggling and chit chatting, and there's one girl sitting on a bench reading a book. She has jet black hair, with a streak for every color of the rainbow.It's pulled back into a ponytail, and I can see she has 3 piercings in each ear. She's not wearing any makeup as far as i can tell. She has black combat boots on. She looks like the kind of girl I'm warned to stay away from. She could be, and most likely is, a druggie. I can't stop looking at her for some reason. She's just that strange I guess. She notices my staring. Crap. She looks up from her book and gives me weird look, and a sort of half smile. I can tell what she's thinking. "Why the heck was that freak looking at me?"

I'm trying to find my first class, the map of the school they gave me is not helping one bit. I'm the kind of person that if you show me how to do something, or how to get somewhere, I'll get it right away. But reading maps? Not my strong suit. I must look like a retarded idiot. A nice looking brunette comes over to me and asks if I need help. She looks like she's probably a junior or sophomore. "Yeah, I'm trying to find my history class, Mr. Moore's class. Room 208. Where is it?" I ask. "Go all the way down the hall, turn left, it's the first door on the right," She tells me with a smile on her face. I thank her. "Just doing my job!" She says cheerfully. Oh, she's one of those students assigned to help new students. Duh. Why else would she want to talk to me?

I take my seat in Mr. Moore's class. It's all the way on the left, on the front row. There's one empty seat next to me. The bell rings and Mr. Moore starts talking. "Hi, class! I'll be your teacher this semester, my name is Mr. Moore" Blah, blah, blah. The door opens and everyone turns to see who it is. "Sorry I'm late!" a female voice says. It's the girl with the rainbow hair streaks. "Not a problem miss, just take your seat," says Mr. Moore. "What's your name?" He then asks. "Millie Lancaster" She answers, then sits in the seat next to me. She gives me a wink. Probably trying to get new kids to sell drugs to. Whatever, I'm not buying, no matter how desperate i am for attention from a female. I was raised in a Christian household. I'm not about to become a satanist, like this girl could quite possibly be.

The summer reading program!

The Summer Reading Program at my library started yesterday, and i had so much fun! If you don't know what the reading program is, I'll give you a brief explanation:

We meet up every Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. for 6 weeks for a program, at the programs we usually do crafts or play a game or something. It's different every time which makes it more fun! This week we made little things that are like Christmas wreaths, but we decorated them to look like monsters, to match the theme, which is own the night. Mine's very weird looking, but i had fun making it XD

We also have a reading goal, and after we read a certain amount of books, we get a prize! (Prizes for something i would be doing anyway? heck yes!) And at the last program, we have a drawing for a grand prize. The Friday before the last program, we have a lock-in, where we spend the night in the library! That may sound weird, but lock-ins are so fun, I promise!!!

The SRP last year kinda changed my life haha :) so it's special to me.

Also, minor update, i now own every Harry Potter book, the hardcovers! :D

The Top Ten books i feel like everyone but me has read

1: Harry Potter series. Don't kill me, please! I've read the first, and i think the seconnd, and i enjoyed them, just haven't had time to read the rest. I WILL though.

2: The Help. Yeah, haven't seen the movie either -_-

3: Pride & Prejudice. Again, haven't seen a movie version either, i want to read this one soon though!

4: Pretty Little Liars series. Only read the 1st, but i really liked it and want to read the others soon.

5: Nancy Drew. Being a mystery lover my whole life, I'm kinda surprised i never read these when i was younger

6: The Clique. Seemes like EVERY teenage girl has read these... I read the first Alphas book, (written by the same author) and didn't like it that much though.

7: Twilight series. I've read the first book, And I've seen the Breaking Dawn pt. 1 movie, but that's all. I don't hate it, but i don't think it's "obsess worthy" Like some people think.

8: Vampire Academy series. Yet AGAIN, only read the first book, and i did enjoy it, the library just never has the second book.

9: Looking for Alaska. This is said to be one of John Green's best books, and i really want to read it!

10: Divergent. I read half of this book and absolutely fell in love, but i got it from the library and had to return it before i could finish :(


As you can tell, i have a problem with commiting to series' lol... There honestly aren't many series' I've actually finished.

The Fault In Our Stars - by the amazing John Green.

16 year-old Hazel was diagnosed wth cancer at the age of 12, she's put on all sorts of medications, and has to carry around an oxygen tank eveywhere because her "lungs suck at being lungs". The drugs help keep her tumors at bay, but she realizes she's never going to get completely better. Hazel would spend all day watching "America's Next Top Model", or reading her favorite book, "An Imperial Affliction", all day, every day if she could, but her mom forces her to attend a support group for cancer kids. One group meeting, she meets this guy, Augustus Waters, who was forced to come by his friend Issac, and is currently in remission from osteosarcoma. Augustus takes an immediate interest to Hazel, and changes her life, completely. (I don't want to give away to much more of the plot, because I want you to enjoy it to the max!)


This is a seriously amazing book, it's not like any other "cancer book" out there. The book is actually hilarious, and it plays with your emotions. The only time I wasn't laughing, I was crying. The ending was so sad, it didn't happen the way I expected it to, but I loved it. I will read probably read this book a bunch more times, and never get tired of it. In my opinion, this is John Green's best book yet. I highly reccomend this book. I promise, you won't regret reading it.


Hazel was one of the most hilarious narrators I've ever read in a book, just the things she says make me giggle. Augustus was an amazingly deep character, and I instantly fell in love with him. All the characters were fantasticly personalified, and developed.

The only "con" I've seen people mention in a review, is that the way Hazel and Augustus talk is not at all how normal teenagers talk. But I think that's the POINT. They're NOT normal teenagers at all!

There's definitely a reason you see very few, if any, bad reviews on this book: It's wonderful.

My summer reading plans.

Hey all! I don't have TOO much to do this summer. But one of the things i plan to do is to read some books i haven't had the time to read, but i really want to, here's some of them;

The Harry Potter Series
I remember reading the first, and maybe the second, a really long time ago, but I never finished the series, and i haven't seen the movies. Don't kill me! I really want to read them all this summer. I've heard that they get really good after the fourth.

Pretty Little Liars Series
I've read the first book twice now, and i really am interested in the plot, i want to read the 2nd book this month sometime, and i hope to finish th series within the next couple months.

Warriors Series
These are more at the bottom of my list, don't get me wrong. they're great books, there's just a bunch of other books i've wanted to read that i've been putting off for a long time. I want to try to read these soon though.

Pretty Little Liars

High school juniors Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hannah are 4 pretty girls with some ugly secrets. Hannah had low self-esteem because her own father called her overweight, but after making herself eat greasy, fatty food, then throw up, she's one of the prettiest, most popular girls in school now. She stopped for a while, but after some stressful things happen, all she wants to do is eat. Is she going to fall back into her bad habbits? Aria has always been the unique one but very unsure of herself. She contantly tries out different personality types, to see which one is most pleasing to other people, and make her popular, so she won't be just the weird girl with the pig-puppet. But when she meets an older man in a bar, was pretending to be someone she's not the best idea after all? Spencer is always surpassed by her older sister Mellissa, from school, to boyfriends. Spencer is always a little envious. And when Mellissa brings home her new super cute, British boyfriend, will Spencer be able to push aside her jealousy and resist temptations? And Emily, her life is going pretty well, she's doing good in school, and one of the stars of the swim team. But things shake up a little when there's a new girl, Maya, moving in across from her. Emily is very intrigued by Maya, and soon learns some secrets about her, and maybe herself. But are Emily's feelings for Maya a little more than friendly?


What do all these girls have in common? They were all best friends in 7th grade, along with their "pack leader", Alison. But the summer 7th grade ends, Ali goes missing, and nobody knows what happened to her. All the girls are really confused and creeped out by this, and since it happened, their friendship broke off. But there's something even scarier happening now, the girls are getting messages from someone who obviously knows secrets about them, the mysterious person only signs their name with an "A". Is it Alison? No. She's been missing for 3 years. She has to be dead by now, and ghosts can't send texts and emails, right?


I liked this book; the plot is really interesting and suspenseful! I liked how the book is told in switching view-points between Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily. It made it easy to stay interested when there's 4 kinda seperate stories, and I like how they all tie to each other. It did get a little confusing at first, but other than that it's a really light read, no big complicated words, it's written pretty simply.

This is the second time I've read this book, but i haven't read any of the others yet :P I'm going to try to finish it oever the summer, maybe? Well we'll see!

Well i think it would be Jeremiah from The Summer I Turned Pretty. I immediately loved him in the first book, amd loved him more in the second, but in the third book he did something to the main character, Belly, that made me hate him. ( i don't want to spoil anything, but if you read the third book, you probably know what i'm talking about)

Update/teeny book haul

Hello, hello! It's been over a week since my last post...So sorry! I know this is the same excuse everyone gives, but I'm seriously busy with school. I've been spending more time studying math than reading books :/ I will give at least one post a week starting from now on though. I'll try to think of a really cool idea to do on Fridays! Leave a comment with an idea if you have one please!

So anyways, i went to the library yesterday, and on the free books shelf were 2 Sarah Dessen books in pretty good condition! THey were just giving them away because they have the old covers, and they want the new covers for the library i guess! So the books i now own without having to pay for are Someone Like You, and That Summer! I'll try to read and review those soon.

Another book i got was a book i've been hearing a lot of hype about on Goodreads and stuff, so i put it on hold.
Divergent by Veronica Roth! I read about 10 pages last night and i'm already hooked, so that review should be coming soon! The only reason i only read 10 pages last night was because it was like 11:30 at night and i was really tired, but the action definitely starts from the very first page.

Also, I recently read Pretty Little Liars for the second time, and i plan to review that one very very soon! I haven't read any of the other PLL books yet, but i will soon, the plot is really intersting and i love me a good mystery!! :)

Warrior Cats!

Hi guys, so i went to the library on Tuesday, i got 3 Warriors books, by Erin Hunter, I can't tell you much of what it's about yet, because i've only read 1 chapter so far, but it seems like it will be pretty good! I might do a review, i'll try!

There are sooooooo many books i want to read, and not enough time to read them all, but i want to spend time on books you want me to review, so leave a comment on what you think i should read next! I read pretty much every genre, and my favorite changes really often, so suggest any genre as long as it's Young Adult!

I finished the whole trilogy in four days!

Hi y'all, so a few days ago, i finished the entire "Summer I Turned Pretty" series, by Jenny Han, i think it only took me 4 days to finish it!

I bet you probably guessed this but, i LOVED all the books!
The 3 rd one was probably my favorite!! If you don't know what this series is about, then i suggest you read my review for The 1st book, The Summer I Turned Pretty. And in case you were wondering, the second book is called It's Not Summer Without You, and the third is called We'll always Have Summer.

The love triangle in this is pretty amazing, i was constantly changing my mind about who i wanted Belly to end up with! In the first book i wasn't sure who i wanted her to be with, in the second i wanted her to be with Jeremiah, and from the beginning of the third i wanted her to pick Conrad.

The reason i don't want to give synopsis' nd stuff for the 2nd and 3rd books is because i don't want to give any spoilers, but basically all 3 books could be combined to make one big book, because they all just follow each other.

There are sad moments, funny moments, "Oh no he DIDN'T" moments, and just downright "AWW!" moments.

Belly is one of the most relatable characters i've ever read about, some of her traits are annoying, but she's refreshingly real, not perfect, but a great girl. I found myself comparing parts of this book to my own life lol, that's jusst how much i related to it. And that's a big reason i loved it so much.

If you liked The Last Song, you will probably like this too, there are actually quite a few similarites.

And if you're a Sarah Dessen fan, i can almost guaruntee you will love these books!

This is one of my favorite series' ever, almost as good as the Hunger Games, (which still remains as my favorite) i definitely reccomend it.

4 and a half out of 5 stars :)

Alphas, by Lisi Harrison

Alphas is the first book in a 4 book series by Lisi Harrison, who also wrote "the Clique" series. I've never read the Clique, but i heard it was good, and that Lisi Harrison is an amazing writer. I definitely wouldn't call her work "amazing", but I have to say something about Alphas is highly addicting. I finished this book in 2 days.

100 girls are chosen to attend the Alpha academy, but you break a rule; you can say "bye bye" to Alpha Island. Only 1 girl will eventually remain, and be the ultimate Alpha. The book mainly centers around 3 girls, and the chapters alternate between their points of view. Skye Hamilton, a dancer who is used to being told her performances are flawless, her dances, and her "lip-kisses" who she's given to several boys... Then there's Allie A. Abbott, an average girl with a broken heart, but everything changes when she gets a letter addressed to singer/songwriter Allie J. Abbott, telling her she's been accepted into Alpha Academy. So Allie A. makes the decision to play dress-up for a while, and take Allie J's place in the academy. And then there's Charlie, who's mother has worked for Shira, the founder of Alpha academy, for over the past decade. So when a spot opens up in the academy, Charlie decides that she deserves a chance to be an Alpha, after all, unbeknownst to Shira, Charlie helped invent Alpha island. But Shira says due to nepitism laws, since Charlie's mother works for Shira, Charlie can't attend... unless Charlie's mom were to resign. So yeah, just like that, Charlie's mom quits. (Seems kinda weird to me but maybe there's an explanation later in the series.) Charlie protests her mom a little, but dhe's already made up her mind. But Shira has one more condition...Charlie must break up with her long-term boyfriend, who also happens to be Shira's son, Darwin. After all, how can an Alpha concentrate on what's really important if she has a boy to distract her? So Charlie does the most dreaded thing she's ever done, she breaks up with the love of her life. But what's her other option? Go to a boarding school in New Jersey? At least at Alpha academy she'll be able to SEE Darwin...

This book was... okay. I don't really know how to explain how i feel about it. I have mixed emotions for it.

•The good: The plot is cute and interesting, something about it is addicting and you just have to keep reading. The characters were pretty in-depth, especially Charlie. I think, no i know, she's my favorite character.

•the bad: Sadly Charlie is really the only likable character. The girls in this book are exteremely catty, self-absorbed, selfish, brats who think they're just the best of the best. Not to mention they're just plain stupid. The whole book really lacks in the intelligance department. I was laughing at parts that were suppossed to be serious, because of the really dumb things the girls say.

So if you can get past the girls' terribley large egos, and the idiocy of the vocabulary used in this book, overall it's not bad. I'm sure it pleases the crowd it's targeted for, 12-15 maybe 16 year old girls. It's just not...quality though. Just a fluffy chick-lit book.

I went to the library today and got a bunch of books i hope to finish in the next couple weeks! I got:

The Hunger Games!!!

The first book i want to talk about is one you've most likely heard of: The Hunger Games! The best-selling book is probably my all-time favorite. They've also recently made a movie out of it! I saw the movie a couple weeks ago, and it is AMAZING. Not nearly as great as the book, but you know, it never is. It was actually better than i exxpected, and everything was just as i imagined it in the book! There are some parts left out, but if they kept everything it would be like a 6 hour movie right!?! (It's already 2 and 1/2 hours long!)

If you've yet to read this amazing book, you probably know at least a little of what it's about. But just in ase you don't, here's a synopsis: Katniss Everdeen is a 16 year old girl living in the 12th, and poorest district of Panem, a city made up of the remains of a future United States. The Capitol rules over the 12 districts of Panem. About 74 years before, the districts rebeled, and started war against the capitol. But they lost. As a reminder to the districts of how they should never try to figght the authority, the Capitol hosts an anual telivised event, called the hunger games, in which one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18, from every district, are chosen at random to compete in. The games have one standard rule: kill, or be killed. Last man standing wins. Katniss's sister Prim is originally chosen to compete in the 74th games, but Katniss volunteers to take her place.

The book is full of action, twists, turns, interesting characters, and even a little love triangle. Suzzane Collins is an amazing writer, and she did a wonderful job creating this story, and bringing it to life. I love this series to death. Though the first book is probably my favorite. The second being my next favorite, but all 3 are the definition of awesome. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I'd say this book is good for people ages 12 and up, because of it's violence. But even though it's a teen book, i know several adults who very much enjoyed it. I even know some 10 and 11 year olds who liked it, but i'd say no younger than 10 year olds should read it. I hope you read and enjoy this book. It's some of the best teen fiction out there! May the odds be ever in your favor, Lindsay

Welcome to my blog! On this blog I will be sharing my most favorite books with you, and maybe warn you about some of the books that I didn't enjoy. I'll review young adult books of most genres. (But i'm really into dystopian fiction right now, so I'll probably post a lot about those!)
